You know you done goofed when the state of Hawaii is coming after you.

In one of the strangest moves seen in gaming during this year, council at the Hawaii State Capitol presented its plan to tackle "predatory" microtransaction practices by several gaming corporations, including EA.

The announcement was made during a public address with four councilmembers present, including State Representative Chris Lee, each making it seem as if the country was being invaded by EA warships.

This comes just a week after EA found itself in a whirlwind of controversy following the company's attempt to bombard Star Wars Battlefront II and Need for Speed Payback customers with microtransactions as if they were defending Fort McHenry from the Royal Navy.

Hawaii has found interest in the topic thanks to the gambling-oriented nature of the microtransactions, something it finds abhorrent. It will move to introduce a bill to prevent such sales in the state, and encourage other states to follow suit.

EA has paid a pretty serious price for its aggressive move against consumer wallets, with shares down more than 2.5% in the past two weeks, and pressure from Disney to resolve the issue ASAP. It has since removed the microtransactions "temporarily", and has been roasted like a marshmallow on Metacritic.
